I was married to him [Douglas Hodge] three times [on screen]… it was a recurring theme. …I mean I think it helped enormously that Doug and I had this history… and had these different ways of working… my first job out of drama school had been with Doug… in that London's Burning episode… and so we had this kind of depth and Douglas is obviously an extraordinary actor - very very experienced and very intelligent - and so there was, yeah, I think the dynamics were quite authentic between the three of us. There was this personal investment from him [Anthony Page] and this history between Doug and I. And so it was already quite charged. We weren't starting from a neutral place and we built on that this idea of really… the poignancy of it. So I felt very embedded in who she was and what she was wanting to achieve.
