I loved the idea of playing her [Rosamond] as somebody who you thought was fab and kind of pretty and sweet but there was this very manipulative underside. I hope that came across, that was our intention, anyway… and I can't sing, at all. I'm tone deaf and I… so it's not me singing in the show. I wanted her to sing badly… but that everyone had to sit and watch and go 'Oh yes, how fantastic!’… Anthony [Page] would go so far but… he'd say 'No, no… she has to sing well, she has to remain perfect.'
